The Blacksburg Police are still investigating after two Virginia high school students were discovered deceased inside a vehicle in a parking garage Tuesday.

Officers in Blacksburg replied to the garage on University City Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. where The bodies were found. Detectives say a weapon was also found.

The school district shared a statement, “First and foremost in our thoughts are the families and loved ones of the two children who lost their lives. As a parent of three daughters, I cannot imagine what they are going through, and they will remain in my prayers. For our students and staff, we have put extensive support services in place to help them process this sudden and tragic loss.

Working with NRVCS and our county resources, we will have these supports in place for as long as necessary. We are deeply saddened by this loss and are trying our best as a community to deal with the devastating impact.”

Blacksburg Murder-Suicide

The whole Blacksburg community is grieving after two high school students were discovered dead in a parking garage. A student was identified by her family as Serenity Hawley. The student’s family told in a statement that it was a murder-suicide.

Serenity Hawley was shot by her ex-boyfriend, Croney Monk before he killed himself. Serenity’s Dad, John Hawley said, “She was a great kid. I mean I couldn’t have asked for a better child,” Serenity’s Mom, Heather Waldron said, “She was just very vivacious. She was just larger than life. And to know that she is gone is just unreal.”

Waldron said, “The biggest thing is to watch for red flags. Don’t ignore or think that this wouldn’t happen to your daughter because I would never in a million years thought this would happen to my daughter.”

Both students were found deceased in a vehicle near Virginia Tech on Tuesday, 8 November.

Katherine Hawley said to WFXR News about the loss of her stepdaughter, Serenity Hawley.

She said, “We would really just like to lift Serenity up and not the tragedy that surrounded her escape from this world at a very early age, she was the person who, you just walked in the room, and no matter if she had a bad day or not, she was going to make sure you have a good one. She could put a smile on anyone’s face.”
