Bobby Shmurda born Ackquille John Pollard is an American rapper known for his single Hot Nigga. The rapper from Brooklyn, New York began rapping at the age of 10 in the year 2004. His father who is currently incarcerated is from Jamaica while his mother is from Trinidad. Bobby is the generator of the money dance which has featured in songs by other musicians including Beyonce and Drake. Bobby has had a number of run-ins with the law and is currently (as of 2019) serving time for weapons possession, conspiracy to commit murder, and reckless endangerment.

In his trial, and as part of a plea bargain, he pleaded guilty to one count of weapons possession and one count of third-degree conspiracy. Under the deal, he cannot appeal the sentence and will end up serving only 5 years because of the 2 years is served while awaiting conviction. However, if he maintains good behavior, he could be eligible for release after 3½ years. He got a further 4 years to his sentence which will run concurrently with the one is currently serving when his girlfriend tried to sneak in a shank to him. The girlfriend was also charged with the offense but did not serve any jail time. Bobby is due for release in 2020.
