According to family friends, Knuth was admitted to the hospital earlier this week due to pneumonia and septic shock.

The condition worsened, leading to Knuth being transferred to Children’s Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, where he required a breathing apparatus in the intensive care unit to aid his breathing.

In a Facebook post, Tara Lucia, a close family friend, shared that Charlie was airlifted from ThedaCare Regional Medical Center to Children’s Wisconsin Hospital in Milwaukee on Thursday morning.

His illness began around 5 pm on Wednesday, and his mother contacted emergency services around midnight.

The resilient Fox Valley community has consistently demonstrated its generous support to the Knuth family, and they will undoubtedly rally together once again during this difficult time.

Throughout the years, the community has shown tremendous unity in supporting Charlie, who battled severe medical conditions.

A carnival fundraiser was organized when he was just six, generating over $5,000 in funds.

Charlie, adopted shortly after birth, was born with epidermolysis bullosa, a genetic disorder that causes the skin to blister easily.

His condition was characterized by frequent blistering, both externally and internally, due to the lack of a skin-binding gene.

Born with epidermolysis bullosa, a genetic disease characterized by blister-covered skin requiring intensive care, Charlie underwent numerous medical procedures.

To help alleviate anxiety, he incorporated CBD into his daily routine. However, the family’s CBD cream-coated bandages, which had previously offered relief, were recently depleted.

Despite his challenges, Charlie found joy and exercise through a mobility tricycle at 12, allowing him to have fun safely.
