Copenhagen Cowboy Ending: What Exactly Is Rakel? Meaning Explained!
A psychedelic blend of crime and the paranormal, “Copenhagen Cowboy” on Netflix is the kind of tale that can only come from Nicolas Winding Refn’s imagination. The mystery around Miu is the focus of the first episode, but at the end of the show, it has grown significantly, opening the door for a larger plot in the future. The narrative advances at a pace that might be characterized as conventionally slow, taking its time with each shot and scene. However, the last fifteen minutes are so chaotic that the viewer is left with a lot of unanswered questions. Here, we deconstruct that perplexing conclusion and open the door to Miu’s potential. Spoilers follow.
Copenhagen Cowboy Plot Synopsis
A woman named Rosella purchases Miu, thought of as a good luck charm, in an effort to conceive. At first, it seems as though Miu’s abilities may have been put to use, but Rosella later starts to believe that Miu does not bring good fortune. Instead, she exudes a darkness that harms others who are near her. She gives her brother, who owns an escort agency, custody of Miu.
Here, Miu meets Cimona, a young woman who originally came to Denmark in search of a modeling career but is now trapped in this existence. They agree to meet at the predetermined location after she provides Miu an escape strategy. Before Miu arrives, Cimona arrives early and takes a ride from Nicklas, who later murders her. Miu sets out on a path that results in the deaths of numerous people along the way as a result of Cimona’s unexpected departure.
In between, we also get to know Nicklas and his family, who all seem to be as enigmatic as Miu. After viewing Miu’s profile on the escort service website, Nicklas in particular develops a fixation on her. When they do finally meet, Miu turns out to be far more formidable and difficult than he had anticipated. In order to hold her accountable for what she did to him, he searches for someone with equal or greater influence.
Copenhagen Cowboy Ending: Who and What is Rakel?
Miu is an interesting character because of all of her strange characteristics, but Nicklas and his family are more enigmatic than Miu. They appear to be just another affluent, odd family at first glance. But certain characteristics of them indicate their past. It is obvious that they are not regular people. They are dangerous and have psychopathic tendencies, but their supernatural nature—which is further highlighted by the introduction of Rakel—is what makes them so dangerous.

He needs a rival who is both significantly stronger than him and courageous enough to face Miu. At this point, his sister Rakel’s ghost appears to him. She requests that he awaken her with their mother’s blood. She appears to be an immortal being, possibly a vampire, given that she is awakened in a coffin with blood dripping from her mouth.
Given that she is his sister, Nicklas is also a vampire or other supernatural being in a related category. The fact that Aske mentions having been serving their family for centuries means that they have lived much longer than average humans do. Nicklas differs from Rakel in that she possesses abilities akin to Miu’s. She is more powerful than Miu, who is still trying to figure out where she came from, because she is older and has been aware of her powers for a longer period of time.
Rakel’s energies are much more concentrated and, consequently, much more destructive, as demonstrated by the scene in which Miu attacks her after seeing Rakel in her mind. We witness her firing lasers from her eyes, placing her in the same category as Superman. It’s possible that others like Miu, who once mentioned having an experience with aliens as a youngster, are also from another world and don’t adhere to the laws of this one because of that.
What are Miu and the Girls in Blue Clothes?
We are enthralled by Miu’s abilities, but we are also curious about who she is. She is questioned by several characters, each of whom offers a different interpretation of what she might be. But even though the show suggests all of these possibilities to us, it never makes it clear who she is. Certainly not directly. She is alluded to be a ghost in the final scene, when Miroslav tries to figure out how to survive Miu and her abilities. Even if she is already strong on her own, we later learn that she is not acting alone. She is numerous and a part of a cluster, but she was equally oblivious of this as the audience was.
Much of Miu’s past is still unknown, especially in regards to her ancestry. She enquires about it, demonstrating that she is unsure of her origins. She is sought after by everyone who wants to use her to gain what they want because of her special abilities. She becomes even more cut off from the rest of the group as a result, and every frame reveals how lonely she feels. Due to her easy attachment to those who show her even the smallest act of kindness, she is willing to do whatever it takes to assist or exact revenge on them.
Rakel quickly understands who she is and everything that her power can do, showing that Rakel has been using it for a lot longer than Miu, while Miu strives to learn more about herself. This indicates that while they might have shared a common ancestor, there is a clear distinction between the two of them. Even with her abilities, Miu seems to be a decent person. On the other hand, Rakel is a clear-cut antagonist who just wants to harm Miu and others.
ALSO READ Is Copenhagen Cowboy Renwed For Season 2 By Netflix Or Is It Cancelled?Rakel is the one who first says that Miu is not one but many, and later on, we see Miu entering a forest and meeting the other females who are wearing identical clothing. Despite the fact that they all have various looks and appear to have diverse abilities, the females all share the same posture. They maintain a consistent gait and posture. It’s probable that each of these women represents a distinct aspect of Miu’s character. Rakel may have been alluding to the fact that she resembles a legion when she remarked that she is numerous.
Another option is that Miu is one of this girls’ gang and that they are all quite real. It’s probable that this is Miu’s coven given that she was frequently compared to a witch throughout the narrative. The time is now for them to all come together since they have been waiting for her while she has been developing and exploring her powers. Though it’s unclear what they plan to do next, particularly now that Rakel has her sights set on Miu and is out to destroy her.
What are the Giants?
Given that “Copenhagen Cowboy” is a supernatural series, it is very possible for many such things to appear in the program. The identities of Miu and Rakel could be interpreted in a variety of ways. It’s still possible that they’re either witches, vampires, or some bizarre hybrid of the two. It’s interesting that the show never elaborates on this, which keeps viewers guessing as to the kind of universe Refn is building and whether it relates to any existing supernatural settings. We don’t learn anything about the origins of the “Copenhagen Cowboy” mythology until the closing scene.

He encourages Miroslav to ask the Giants for assistance because they are the only ones who can defeat Miu. Miroslav doesn’t appear that excited about the notion. He actually looks more apprehensive about asking for assistance from them than from Miu and the threat she offers. The Giants are undoubtedly more powerful than Miu, despite the fact that nothing else is known about them. But what are they specifically?
The Giants and the Jötuns are analogous in Scandinavian mythology. One would prefer to lean toward this view given that the story is set in Copenhagen. It’s even stranger though because Hideo, a Japanese man, tells Miroslav this information. Once more, it makes us wonder if this is just another well-known term employed in the narrative or whether these supernatural beings genuinely take on a very different form specifically designed for the program.
The Titans or any other interpretation from a different culture could be the subject. Anything is conceivable at this point. But one thing is certain. Whoever these Giants are, they are strong, savvy, and unquestionably deserving of their moniker—if not in terms of physical stature, then in terms of reputation. Miroslav knows better than to mess with them, so if the tale goes on, Miu already has a deserving antagonist.
