Song Review: Fifth Harmony's 'Write On Me' Is Breezy, Simple & Heartfelt
As Fifth Harmony’s second promotional single following ‘The Life’, ‘Write On Me’ is by far one of the girl groups’ best end products in terms of lyricism. It’s a direct contrast from ‘Work From Home’ and is a direct hint that the album will be full of surprises and hopefully a full genre of sounds.
So far, we know the album has House, EDM & R&B filled influences. Their debut album was predominantly R&B and Hip-Hop renowned so it’s nice to see some extensive genres being put into use. They also co-wrote song ‘All In My Head (Flex)’ with Fetty Wap who is also the featured artist.
Let’s also not forget that legendary rapper Missy Elliott is also featured on their album totaling 3 key featured artists on their newly anticipated album. All of which are good things for Fifth Harmony since collaborations are always nice and needed in the music industry. Long story short, it brings about more variety.
According to many critics, the album is posed as one of 2016’s most anticipated releases. One for being a girl group album and two as a follow up to their debut album Reflection which garnered overall positive reviews from critics with many complimenting the “slick production showcasing the group’s multi voiced approach to contemporary R&B”.
Reflection also made many “best end of year album lists” including Rolling Stone’s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2015 and Complex Magazines Best Albums of 2015.
