Eugene Levy Wiki Biography

Eugene Levy nowadays is known as a TV producer, actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, comedian, voice actor and musician from Canada. The estimated net worth of E. Levy is almost as high as $15 million. He is best known for his appearance in the “American Pie” film series, and it would be fair to admit that a huge part of Levy’s net worth was earned while filming these teen films. But he has also appeared as Mitch Cohen in “A Mighty Wind” and as Guy Fontenot in “Almost Heroes”.

Eugene Levy Net Worth $15 Million

Eugene Levy was born to Jewish parents on December 17, 1946, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His parents were not famous at all – his mother did not work, only looking after Eugene and doing some work at home, while his father worked as a foreman. But Eugene was able to receive a good education – at first he attended Westdale Secondary School and later studied at McMaster University. He was an active student there and even met Ivan Reitman – owner of The Montecito Picture Company nowadays.

Levy’s net worth began to increase as he started to appear on SCTV, making parodies. He became extremely popular in Canada while representing many popular people, such as Henry Kissinger, Ernest Borgnine, Howard Cosell, Alex Trebek, Perry Como, Milton Berle, Lorne Greene, Jack Carter, John Carles Daly, James Caan and many others. This was an extremely successful beginning for a young actor, and later he started to appear in some movies too. Levy made his debut as an actor in 1971, when he played a coffee boy in “Foxy Lady”, but of course, this was a very small addition to Eugene’s net worth. He starred in “Waiting for Guffman”, released in 1997 and directed by Christopher Guest, but actually we can say that the acting career of Eugene Levy did not make him famous: Levy was not even credited in some of the movies in which he played. True fame, and the great breakthrough which greatly increased Levy’s net worth emerged in 1999, when “American Pie” was released. Eugene Levy played Noah Levenstein in the film, and became beloved by the viewers thanks to this funny role.

Of course, after such a successful role, Levy’s net worth built up immediately, and he continued his hard work while performing in many other movies. For example, Levy established much higher net worth while playing in such movies as “Repli-Kate”, “Best In Show”, “The Man”, “Over the Hedge”, “For Your Consideration” and “A Mighty Wind”. Of course, more success was added to Levy after “America Pie 2” was released, and right after it “American Pie Presents: Band Camp”. And after all his performances in these movies, no one should have any doubt about how rich Eugene Levy is, so there is no wonder that today Levy is considered to be not only one of the greatest actors and comedians of our century, but he is also one of the richest personalities in the world after all his hard work.

Quote
1[on Jonathan Winters] He is every character in the scene, and he has a mind so entrenched in characters you actually believe each one is different. This is not only a comic genius at work – this is the epitome of character writing.
2At the end of the day, even if my part is a bit goofy, the key thing is that I’m doing what I love to do, and that’s to make people laugh.
3I would love to work with Sir Anthony Hopkins. How and why that would happen in a comedy I’m not sure – why he would be dragged over to my side, or I’d be be dragged over to his side.
4One of the biggest misconceptions about me is that I’m a comedian, which I’m not. A comedian is someone who can stand up in front of an audience and make you laugh. I’ve never done stand-up and I never will. I’m a comic actor. My comedy comes through my characters.
5[on his role in Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003)] I like playing villains – villains that aren’t that bright, you know?..Okay, this is the guy. I’m thinking I can finally bring some mustaches out of the drawer..This is set in the mid-80s. Glasses down to here. And the mustache is somewhere between Hitler and Groucho.
6I can’t do comedy that is cutting and vicious. If I knew I’d said something that was going to make someone feel bad, well, that supersedes everything.
Fact
1Played an attorney in Armed and Dangerous (1986). There is a real-life attorney named Eugene Levy.
2His son, Dan Levy, is a host on MTV Canada. His daughter, Sarah Levy, is an actress.
3Is portrayed by Patrick Fischler in Gilda Radner: It’s Always Something (2002).
4He is the only actor to be in all eight of the “American Pie” movies.
5Was supposed to host Saturday Night Live (1975) with John Candy back in 1985 (he, Candy and Billy Crystal did a promo for it on SNL the week before it was supposed to have been aired), but that episode never happened, due to a writer’s strike shortly after the promo was aired.
6Has worked with actor Steve Martin on four different films–Father of the Bride (1991), Father of the Bride Part II (1995), Bringing Down the House (2003) and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005).
7Read for the part of Toby Ziegler on The West Wing (1999), but Richard Schiff eventually got the roll. According to producers, Levy came very close to getting the role, but they decided to cast Schiff for the part instead.
8Was listed as a potential nominee on the 2005 Razzie Award nominating ballot. He was listed as a suggestion in the Worst Supporting Actor category for his performance in the film New York Minute (2004). However, he failed to receive a nomination. The very next year, though, he got a Worst Supporting Actor Razzie Nomination for his roles in Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005) and The Man (2005).
9Part of the original, groundbreaking cast of SCTV (1976)–otherwise known as SCTV. The Canadian TV Series was an comedic smash hit in the early 1980s and started the careers of Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Catherine O’Hara, and the late John Candy just to name a few. He played many roles but was probably best known as earnest but dimwitted Melonville news broadcaster Earl Camembert and schlock Las Vegas lounge comic Bobby Bittman.
10Attended Westdale High School in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
11He was part of the group Northern Lights, which sang the song “Tears Are Not Enough,” which was on the “We are the World” benefit album.
